QR Code Matrix Architecture & Error Correction Standards
Quick Response (QR) codes are two-dimensional matrix symbologies developed by Denso Wave under ISO/IEC 18004. Unlike linear 1D barcodes that encode data across horizontal strips, QR codes encode binary and alphanumeric streams across both X and Y axes with built-in Reed-Solomon error correction.
Error Correction Levels (ECC)
- Level L (7%): Lowest byte overhead. Best for dense alphanumeric text on clean digital screens.
- Level M (15%): Standard balance for marketing banners and product packaging.
- Level Q (25%): High fault tolerance; suitable for warehouse logistics and rough handling.
- Level H (30%): Maximum damage recovery. Essential when placing central brand logos or printing on outdoor materials.
Barcode Detector Web API
Our in-browser scanner leverages the modern W3C BarcodeDetector hardware API. Hardware-accelerated camera frames and image bitmaps are decoded directly on the device GPU/CPU pipeline without transmitting image bytes to any cloud endpoint.
